Ottawa – The Canadian Lung Association is pleased to recognize one of their own with a prestigious peer award. Sheila Gordon-Dillane was presented with the Alan J. McFarlane Staff Award during the 34th annual Better Breathing Conference in Toronto.
“I am proud and happy to recognize Sheila for her commitment and passion,” says Debra Lynkowski, President and CEO of The Canadian Lung Association, adding “Our team is what makes us great. I truly believe that we must show our deep appreciation for those team members, whose efforts and dedication extend well beyond their 9-to-5 call of duty.”
“I think there is no better compliment and testament to your hard work than one that comes from your peers,” she adds.
This Alan J. McFarlane Staff Award is reserved for Canadian Lung Association employees who have distinguished themselves among their peers for their exceptional approach to their work.
Throughout her 25 years of service as the director of Ontario Respiratory Care Society (ORCS), Ms. Gordon-Dillane has provided outstanding guidance and assistance to the volunteer members. She also played a key role in supporting the Society’s health education activities, as well as The Lung Association as a whole. This included the development of seminars and workshops for health care professionals throughout Ontario, as well as a national conference on tuberculosis.
Ms. Gordon-Dillane also had an integral part in the development and dissemination of several publications that are distributed to health care professionals, and as such, further strengthen the Association’s position as a reliable source of information of latest lung research for those have direct impact on the health of Canadians.
