November is Lung Month: Get involved!

November is Lung Month and the Canadian Lung Association is asking Canadians to celebrate by getting involved and learning about their lung health.

Here are ways to participate:

Get social and share a breathtaking photo

We want Canadians to share breathtaking photos and raise awareness about lung disease.

It’s simple and easy to participate. Here’s how:
1)    Post your most breathtaking pic to social media and add #mybreathtakingpic
2)    Include a short message: “Post a pic that takes your breath away and give Canadians with lung disease a chance to breathe easier”
3)    Nominate a friend and get them to do the same
4)    Ask your family and friends to support The Lung Association by donating to www.lung.ca

In person
If you want to help us celebrate lung month in person, contact your provincial lung association and find activities near you!

Donate to lung research
November also sees the launch of Breathing as One, a national fundraising campaign aimed at bringing patients, researchers and donors together to breathe new life into lung research. The Breathing as One campaign will break down the barriers that impede advances in our understanding, prevention and treatment of lung disease, and allow us to go further than traditional lung research, ultimately reducing risk, discovering breathing breakthroughs and saving lives. Learn about radon- a cause of lung cancer

November is also national Radon Action Month and the Canadian Lung Association is urging all Canadians to test their homes for radon. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. Testing for radon is easy and costs about $30. You can order a test kit from our provincial Lung Associations. If your home has high radon levels, it can be fixed by a certified radon professional. Happy and healthy breathing to all during Lung Month… and beyond!
