The Canadian Lung Association is one of Canada’s oldest and most respected national health charities previously made up of ten separate and independently incorporated legal entities that operate as provincial lung associations in each of the ten provinces and territories across Canada. Changes are coming to the way we serve Canadians.
Previously our relationship with each provincial association was formalized through a Member Agreement and Trademark License Agreement that outlined the rights and obligations of each of the parties, in addition to granting the rights to the members to use the registered trademarks of CLA.
After several months of discussions and efforts of amelioration, a number of the provincial lung associations have decided to dissolve their formal partnership with the Canadian Lung Association and form separate organizations focused on lung health at the provincial level. It’s time for the Canadian Lung Association to focus on all Canadians, no matter where they live.
CLA is conducting a full review of its operating model. This review will continue over the coming months and while the details have not been finalized, CLA’s commitment to honor its heritage by continuing to support the needs of patients and caregivers suffering from all forms of lung disease across Canada, will remain paramount. Further, our commitment to being strong stewards of donor dollars and valued partners to other lung-health related stakeholders, will remain as key pillars to support the new organizational structure.
Stay tuned as we forge a new way forward. One that will ensure we can meet the needs of all Canadians from coast-to-coast, so everyone can breathe with ease.
